Medieval Tower

The Medieval Tower is a breathtaking structure located at the highest point of the village. With dimensions of 5.40 metres by 5.40 metres and a height of 12 metres, it offers a spectacular view of the Comino Valley and the surrounding area. Its unique position on a rocky outcrop makes it an ideal place to admire the surrounding panorama.

For tourists seeking a unique experience, the Medieval Tower is a must-visit. There is no access to the interior from the ground floor, but the hypothesis of an access at a height of about 7 metres is confirmed by the presence of a door jamb and the discontinuity of the wall. This privileged position made the tower a perfect place to control the Forca d’Acero pass and, in the past, offered a secure defence to those who lived there.

Built and oriented according to the declination of the sun, the Isolated Tower functions as a compass and indicates the four cardinal points, the position of Montecassino Abbey and the position of the star on the day of the equinoxes and solstices. These unique features make it a popular destination for history, architecture and astronomy enthusiasts.
